Both George’s and my bio-bottle peaked at about a height of 45 cm and then both died out. The control bottle reached a height of 50cm. It slowly died, it declined to 40cm and a couple of days later there wasn’t anything left. Variable 1 got to a height of 41cm and then died.
The constant bio-bottle consisted of dirt, tomato seeds, water, rocks, and 2 bottles. We put 8 seeds in and gave it 40 ml of water each day. We set up the bottles the same way except for the mount of dirt.
One of the variable bottles had the broken glass from a light bulb and the other had the metal parts from the light bulb.
1) My hypothesis was correct I expected that the constant would grow the most.
2) The constant did the best but only barely so more testing would be needed to determine if light bulbs have a dramatic effect on the biosphere.
3) We didn’t add the same amount of dirt to each bottle and we didn’t water the plants on the weekend. This could have decreased the growth o the plant. Also Sid didn’t keep track of… anything, so we don’t know if the 2nd variable bottle had a clear effect.
4) For the variables we tested we were able to track their progress well, except for the 2nd variable. We were limited by the fact that we couldn’t test mercury.
5) Our Lexus project is about recycling light bulbs because they can be harmful to the environment.
6) Yes it showed that light bulbs, not even ones with mercury, can be destructive to the environment.
